{Written while eating Skinnygirl lime and salt popcorn-- have you tried this? Soo good!} October is a pretty good month as far as I'm concerned. The month kicks off with my birthday (e.g., cake) and ends with Halloween (e.g., candy) and you get to wear pink all month long. Perfection! Yet there is another reason why I love it so-- its Breast Cancer Awareness month. Like so many of us, my family was touched by this awful disease when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have a close family and my grandmother is kind of the nucleus. She handled this disease like she has handled her life--with grace, humor, positive vibes and a lifetime of unwavering Faith and I am grateful to say that she is a survivor. But so many women -- and men--aren't. Cancer is a terrible, debilitating, dehumanizing disease. It takes from a person all those things that make us human: energy, appetite, appearance, hope, dignity. One of my most fervent prayers is that we will finally find a cure for cancer, in all of its forms. To me, there is no greater hero in this world than a person who must live day after day with this horrible disease, yet wakes up every morning and faces the day full of hope and courage. I am a full supporter of bringing awareness to this disease, and if October focuses on breast cancer, then I am all for it. And by the way, how cute is my grandmother? (we call her Nanny) :)
So I couldn't decide if I liked this skirt better with my menswear flats or my favorite blush heels...so I paired them with both. Sometimes I like to dress a girly piece with something masculine. It makes things that can be too cutesy a little less so. But the flirty little skirt looks great with a heel. I might just wear it both ways! How was your weekend, my friends? Whatever you did, I hope it was lovely (and involved pumpkin in some form-- carving? Baking? Eating?) We are almost half-way through the week/ rejoice!!! :) Thank you so much for stopping by, dearest reader....Sweetly- Michelle
