You REDy for 2017?

{blogged over the Bachelor and next to my poor sick baby girl}  This was not the best start to 2017- poor Addison has the stomach flu and has had a rough day of it.  We had the day all planned out- we were going to see Sing and then to lunch - a little mommy and daddy date with our girl. I am always nervous that she will feel neglected because baby Huds takes up sooo much of my attention and focus. I know it's not forever ( it actually goes by waaay too fast) but I still try to find time to spend with just her. Anyway, that plan went down the tubes when we woke up to her throwing up. And this seemed to me to be a little bit like life- you can have the very best plans and intentions, and sometimes, life throws you a curve ball. I DID spend one on one time with her (it unfortunately involved hanging over the toilet!) We just have to be red-y for anything, right? Happy New Year! Sweetly, Michelle

Cape-tivating

{Written while watching RHOOC Reunion Part 3 and eating Swedish Fish. It was a good night!}  Hello sweet readers!!  How was your Halloween? I sure hope it was lovely!  Aren't holidays the best? I can't wait for this time of the year to get into full swing! Speaking of swing... Capeity cape cape! This has to be my most favorite accessory of the season.  I live in hot California where we basically just make believe we have different seasons, and it's hard to pretend I'm going to get very much use out of over the knee boots or leather. But a cape? If you buy the right kind, it can be light enough to serve as a sweater {although there are some heavy capes out there--pretty wool and plaid--that I would wear in a heartbeat if we had the weather!} There are so many things I can wear this cape with to the office... And this dress! A little flarey, twirly hemline is all I need to be happy! It's a beautiful texture too! I've been really into dresses lately- maybe because they are so easy.  One piece and voila! You are set! On a side note, I'm telling you-- Banana Republic has been killing it lately! It's one of about 3 or 4 stores that I know without a doubt will have something office appropriate for me to wear, but lately, it's just been divine. And from what we all saw at New York Fashion Week, spring is going to be even better!  Alright, my loves! Thank you for stopping by and as always, I hope your day was just terrific! Casual in Khaki















Yay for weekend time! Okay, this whole get up (shoes included) is from Banana Republic.  I popped by the mall last weekend and they were having a great sale...so...you know what happened next.  The shorts are great-- not too short and not too wrinkly. The sweater is nice and holds its kind of form fitting shape, which is important with loose-ish shorts. These wedges? They were on sale last weekend for $70, so I bought them in two colors! Why not? I love wedges-- still that sandal feel but they give you a lift when you need it- -and who ever complained about a few more inches of height? (umm, no one!)

You know that I love sunsets...and just being out with my sweet girl on these balmy, beautiful evenings. I love being outside during this time of the day and I love to share it with my daughter.  I want her to see and appreciate the beauty and simplicity of nature and to pick her face up from the IPad every now and again to enjoy it!
