Hardhome Recap- Game of Thrones Episode 8

I know I am a tad behind here on the re-cap (Sorry. I've said it before... jobs really do ruin everything) but last night's episode?  What in all that is holy are those White Walkers?  I was perched on the couch, with a stack of work related documents on my lap to review, figuring (because this season has been sort of uneventful) that I could multi-task a bit and work while watching GOT. No. No, no no no.  I was on the edge of my seat, holding onto a dog with either arm, just stressed out and anxious beyond belief. Lets talk:

  • Cersei?   Hilarious spoon raps to the head. And the water slurping from the concrete floor.  Nun Confession Requester does not seem swayed by Cersei's plotting of her demise. I predict a few more hard spoon whacks in Cersei's future (good!)
  • I love Tyrion and Dany together-- oh, the banter!  So witty! So loaded with innuendo. I am glad that Tyrion is advising her and I like seeing him on top of his game (rather than chained up or throwing up)-- I predict good things to come from these two together;
  • Ok, that little servant Crow- Ollie? He is creepy and I think he is going to attack or otherwise try to kill Jon Crow.  His ears really perked up when Sam said that a man sometimes has to make hard choices  that others do not understand for the greater good. You can tell that he is really, really REALLY not happy with this "Lets be friends with the Wildlings" campaign.   His whole family was slaughtered in cold blood by the Wildlings (I thought it was the Thenns, who are in a creepy league of their own) but still. Jon Crow is one of my favorite characters and I get really stressed thinking about someone killing him (its GOT. The good guys all die. I mean, I know all men must die but the good ones seem to do it earlier that necessary in this show);
  • That scene at the Wildling town of Hardhome though....I am a reader of the books. I've read them all. Some twice. I am currently re-reading Book 5...this hasn't happened!  And for some reason, it was the spookiest scene to me- when the dogs started barking and the mountain looked all misty. What can kill these guys? They just seem unstoppable. But when the creepy White Walker king walked to the edge of the dock and was just staring at Jon Crow. My gosh. Spookiest thing ever. I watched out of half-open eyes.  I had no idea what he was going to do with those raised arms-- dredge up  something from the water? Levitate the boat?  Turns out, he was just saying " Check it.  Check this. " And it was the silence as they stared at each other. I sort of wanted Jon to scream some bravado at him, but there was more power in the silence.  Oye. Dragons? What is going to stop them.? We will find out!  What did you all think?  Let me know! Two Days in the Desert

Generally speaking, I  am not really a desert type of girl.  I'm not really a rock climber (outside of the gym) or a cactus appreciator (but I do like those pretty succulent arrangements for the backyard!) However, there is just something about Palm Springs that I love. Maybe it's the vastness of the sky surrounded by those mountains that look so close. Maybe it's the palm trees that seem to  cover every last bit of space. Or it could be the sunset that lights up the whole sky with a pinky glow. I grew up coming to Palm Springs as a little weekend getaway with my family. I have also played quite a lot of tennis here in tournaments when I was younger.  I love it. This weekend was a quick trip with my parents and extended family to celebrate my Uncle's birthday. There was a lot of golf, a lot of pool time (but not enough time on El Paseo). It was really warm but for some reason heat doesn't bother me. I'm always cold anyway so when the temperatures go up, I'm like a little lizard. I just sit in the sun and soak it up (covered of course in SPF, a hat, sunglasses and usually, a rash guard. Stay away, wrinkles!)  This is a place that I hope we will frequent many times in the  future with our little family.

I seriously threw clothes in a bag when I came home from work Friday afternoon and wasn't as mindful as I should've been about the heat and packing. However, this little blue dress lightweight from Nordstrom really served me well at my uncle's birthday dinner. I am still wearing the cute boots I got around Christmas from The Shop in Laguna- they are comfy and so cute.  And I love wearing boots with sundresses and little skirts. A fringey bag and some jewelry and that was that! Hope your weekend was amazing and as always, thank you thank you for stopping by! Xo Michelle

ο»ΏI saw this beautiful dress on a fashion blog I follow and I tried like crazy to get it (read: obsessed) and since its a French brand (and the website is written in French and only delivers to people in France-- insert weeping), I was stymied! Enter Shop Bop!! As I was doing my usual browsing and oohing, there the little dress was! You guys, this dress is amazing-- the fit is flowy and perfect. I have on an XS and its roomy.  The only thing I need to do is figure out the old bra sitch... I definitely need to wear one and that big open back means it will be a complicated one. But that's a small price to pay for this beauty! There are tons of colors and 2 lengths. I bought this in the pink color and white, all in this length. I think I might go back for the long one too because they are just that nice. The long one is very caftan-esque and I am a sucker for those guys! Stick me in a caftan at some Palm Springs pool party in strappy gold sandals and I will be SET!  Thanks for stopping by and reading- I sure do appreciate each of you and your comments so much!
